Bobby Grigas, III Ready for Modified Event at New Hampshire

Grigas Will Run a Brand New Car at the “Magic Mile” in the Whelen Modified Tour 100

Concord, NC — Bobby Grigas, III has had one date circled on his calendar ever since the 2009 Whelen Modified Tour schedule came out.

The date is June 27th, and New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NH) is the backdrop for this first of two trips to the premier track on the Modified Tour schedule. Grigas hopes to back up his solid runs from last year with a solid finish this year at New Hampshire.

“I feel like things are coming together,” said Grigas. “We just need a little bit of luck on our side, hopefully a lot changes at Loudon. I’m coming with a brand new car and we have a little bit of a different paint scheme to maybe change things up. Maybe change is what we need to get back on track.”

Grigas will roll through the gates at New Hampshire for the first time there with crew chief Kevin Crowley. His team, Triple G Motorsports, will also bring a brand new Ford engine with a Troyer chassis. The combination is expected to bring good results for the team.

“Last year, (in the fall race) I was running in eighth or ninth late in the race,” said Grigas. “We couldn’t get up in the draft because the car would get so loose but towards the end of a run. We were going to get a good finish. We ended up getting involved in a wreck. Now we want to go back and finish the deal.”

The race itself is such a high profile event with the track measuring just over a mile in distance, by far the biggest on the schedule. Throw in the fact that all the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series teams, owners, drivers, and sponsors are watching and it creates an exciting atmosphere both in the pits and on the track. In the past, some Cup guys like Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards have even tested the waters against the Modified faithful.

“It’s an exciting time for us Modified drivers,” said Grigas. It’s an honor and an exciting time to race on the same style track that the cup guys are racing on. Every now and then some of the Cup drivers get to come out, like last year when Ryan Newman did and Tony Stewart before that. That makes it more fun for all of us.”

No matter the outcome, the New Hampshire race weekend is a lot of fun for the drivers in the support series who get to run in front of the bigger crowds on New England’s premier racing stage.

“I’m just excited to be there and it’s one of the biggest races that the modified tour goes to and I just can’t wait for a fun-filled week being at Loudon.”

Action gets underway with qualifying on Thursday, June 25th. The race it’s self will be on Saturday, June 27th – prior to the Nationwide Series race.
