New Hampshire Motor Speedway Looking for First Nationwide Repeat Winner

Loudon, NH —  In a span of 19 years and 22 races, New Hampshire Motor Speedway has never had a repeat winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The streak could end on Saturday, June 27 when seven former New Hampshire winners take the green flag in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World RV Sales 200 presented by Turtle Wax.

Jason Keller, Kenny Wallace, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Derrick Cope, Bobby Hamilton, Jr., and Joe Nemechek all have a chance to end this amazing streak on Saturday.

Edwards enters the race with the most momentum after his win last weekend at the Milwaukee Mile.  He led the final 45 laps of the NorthernTool.com 250 Saturday night under the lights.

Carl won the New England 200 in New Hampshire in July, 2006.  He is currently in second place in the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings, trailing Kyle Busch by only 127 points.

Keller won the CVS/pharmacy 200 presented by Bayer in May of 2001.  He is the only other former New Hampshire

Kenny Wallace is in the Top-15 in the Nationwide standings. Wallace won the third-ever Nationwide race at NewHampshire, the Budweiser 300 in July, 1991.

Kevin Harvick has had numerous chances to win in New Hampshire, qualifying for the pole in 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007, but has only visited Victory Lane once. By that pattern, Harvick could find himself on the pole on Saturday and looking to repeat his 2007 win.

Joe Nemechek has 16 career Nationwide victories, but hasn’t finished first in New Hampshire since beating Dale Earnhardt, Sr. in 1992.  Win or not, Nemechek will also be participating in the Speedway Children’s Charities Track Walk, in Partnership with Motor Racing Outreach, right after the race.

Bobby Hamilton, Jr. won in New Hampshire in 2002 and went on to collect four victories in 2003.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is special to Derrick Cope, as it was the site of his first career Nationwide win in 1994.
