True Value Modified Series at Thompson This Week
Thompson, CT — The True Value Modified Racing Series will top the bill this Thursday, July23rd, at the Thompson International Speedway. The True Value Modified Series, know as New England’s Modified Racing Series, will be the featured division on Charter Communications night in 75-lap main event sponsored by Town Fair Tire.
True Value Modified Racing Series (TVMRS) boasts a roster of some fifty plus drivers and that list contains some of the best known drivers in all of New England. Current points leader Jon McKennedy will lead the impressive field of race teams to the Thompson oval.
The Thompson appearance for this touring series will be the 9th race of the season and should be one of the most exciting. The high-banked, ultra fast Thompson Speedway is the largest race track on which the TVMRS competes and both racers and fans love the excitement of wheel-to-wheel competition on the big track.
Seven-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion, Mike Stefanik, defending WMT title holder, Ted Christopher and many more are competitors in the TVMRS. In its sixth year of competition, the TVMRS has established a strong and loyal fan base throughout the New England area by presenting well known modified drivers in exciting, high speed modified racing action.
Todd Owen, winner of the 2008 TVMRS race at Thompson, is will try to defend his performance of last year in the Town Fair Tire 75. He will face stiff competition from drivers like Les Hinkley, Doug Coby, Rowan Pennink, Rob Goodenough, Carl and Chris Pasteryak, Richard Savary and Kirk Alexander. Fans will also be treated to the excitement of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All American Series “Super 6” divisions of competition.
Due to fan interest in this special racing program, the Thompson grandstands will open at 2 PM. Charter Communications will have a big display on the midway for fans to enjoy. Qualifying races will begin at 5:30 PM with the first main event scheduled for 6:45PM.The evening will also include the 40 laps remaining in the rain shortened 50-lap Late Model race of June 11th.
