NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Shuffles Schedule
Spring Rainouts Force Revisions
Daytona Beach, FL — NASCAR and Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C., have announced that the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event that was rained out on April 10, will now run on Friday, Oct. 2 in place of the originally scheduled event at the track on that same date.
In addition, Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C., and NASCAR has announced that a spring date that was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28 will not be made up.
“We really tried hard to work out a make-up date that would work for our tracks, competitors and sponsors,” said NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour director Sherry Clifton. “Unfortunately we had several rainouts in the spring happen on back-to-back weekends and we just didn’t have enough open dates to make up all the rain outs. We are excited to return to Ace in October and appreciate everyone at Caraway working with NASCAR to make up one of our two rainouts.”
The first rainout from the spring at Caraway Speedway has already been rescheduled Saturday, Sept. 19. The race is slated to start at 8 p.m.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour has four events remaining on the 2009 schedule with the Caraway 150 this Saturday night followed by the Made in America Whelen 200 at Martinsville Speedway on September 27. The Ace 150 on Oct. 2 is next on the schedule and the season finale Fall Classic 150 at Caraway Speedway on Oct. 10.
