Weather Limits Practice At Martinsville

Martinsville, VA — Todd Szegedy led the field during an abbreviated practice for the Made In America Whelen 300 Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour cars.

Szegedy took his No. 2 Wisk/Snuggle Ford around the demanding track during practice with a time of 19.133 seconds (97.841 mph). Donny Lia, driving his No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge, was second with a time of 19.172 (97.642 mph). Glenn Tyler was fourth with Johnny Bush and Ronnie Silk completing the top five.

Only 32 of the 44 cars registered for the race made it on the track before a stubborn drizzle turned into a heavier shower forcing NASCAR to put a hold on practice.

A decision will be made later this afternoon on the schedule for the rest of the day.  The Made In America Whelen 300 will be held Sunday afternoon with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series limited cars both in action. Racing begins at 12:15 p.m.
