PASS South Teams Anxious to Get 2010 Season Started at Dillon March 13th
Naples, ME– The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models get their 2010 points season underway Saturday March 13th with the South Carolina Clash at Ron and Sue Barfields’ immaculate Dillon (SC) Motor Speedway, and there’s new teams, new combinations, and many returning favorites that will challenge for both the race win and the 2010 title.
Ben Rowe made the long haul from Maine to capture last year’sClash, but the 2009 PASS South Champion is unlikely to defend his title as his move to Mulkern Racing will likely see the new tandem sticking closer to their Maine roots. Series runner up and 2009 Rookie of the Year Ryan Blaney has a 2010 PASS license in his pocket and should contend for the Championship if his team decide to challenge for the title. Preston Peltier is back for another shot at the title, and 2009 proved that his team is championship caliber. Same goes for Jay Fogleman, who needs just a tad more consistency to capture the crown. Fogleman tied Rowe and Peltier in the win column (each scoring three) and he could be the top dog when the season wraps up in October.
Heath Hindman, Devin Jones, Brandon Ward, Chase Elliott, and Justin Wakefield are all licensed for 2010. Steve Legendre is making a move to PASS South from the North series where he finished 11th in the 2009 standings despite missing one start. Virginian David Quakenbush intends to challenge for the title, and Grant Davidson will move up to the PASS Super Late Model ranks as well. Chris Bohlman is new to the PASS South and there are a slew of favorites like Tim Pinion, Clete Caywood, Clay Jones, Tim Nooner, and Dylan Presnell who have signaled their intentions to race with PASS in 2010.
Expect the majority of these teams plus many more to roll through the gates at Dillon Motor Speedway on Friday March 12th for practice from 1:00 PM until 6:30 PM. All divisions on the Saturday card are welcome to practice. On Saturday the back gate opens at 9:00 and practice rolls off at 11:00 with time trials scheduled for 3:00 PM.
In addition to 150 green flag lap South Carolina Clash for the PASS super late models fans will see a 75 lap shoot-out for the DMS Late Model Super Trucks plus Legends, the Allison Legacy Series, Bandoleros and Mini-Cup cars – six divisions of racing all told. There’s an on track meet and greet at 4:30 and the first heat gets the green at 5:20 PM. All of this and plenty more for a fan friendly adult ticket price of $15.00; kids eleven and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
