The Davidson Company Renews Stafford SK Modified® 1st Place Contingency Sponsorship in Memory of Dave Rowe

Stafford Springs, CT — The Davidson Company has returned to Stafford Speedway’s Contingency Program as a first place SK Modified® feature sponsor. Each Davidson Company bonus awarded during the 2010 season will once again be a special presentation in memory of Dave Rowe, who passed away in May of 2008. Mr. Rowe founded The Davidson Company in 1974, and he was a long-time supporter of racing at Stafford. Mr. Rowe began sponsoring cars at Stafford in the early 1990s and the tradition that he started continues strong today as Davidson is not only a contingency sponsor, but they own the SK Modified® cars of Jeff Malave and Woody Pitkat, the Late Model of Michael Bennett, the SK Light Modified of Matt Galko, and they are the primary sponsor of the #48 Marcia Kretschman owned Late Model with Ryan Posocco as the driver.

“This is a great way for us to continue on in memory of my father and what he started at Stafford,” said Tim Rowe, owner of Davidson Racing and Sr. Vice President of Davidson Foods. “Dad loved racing, he loved Stafford Speedway, and most of all he loved being able to help out the competitors. I think he would have sponsored every car at Stafford if he could have and it’s in that spirit that we are continuing to offer this contingency bonus in his memory.”

Davidson will contribute a weekly bonus of $150.00 to each SK Modified® feature winner during the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season. Combined with the weekly $150.00 bonus provided by CARQUEST and the $150.00 bonus from Valvoline, each SK Modified® feature winner at Stafford during the 2010 season will take home $1,850. The Davidson Company has contributed over $13,000 to SK Modified® competitors over the past five seasons and their 2010 contribution will push that total to over $16,000.

“We’re happy to have Davidson as part of our family of sponsors for another season,” said SMS COO Mark Arute. “Davidson has supported our weekly race program for nearly 20 years here at Stafford, and it’s nice to have the tradition of The Davidson Company and the memory of Mr. Rowe associated with our premier division for another season. It is thanks in part to their continued support of the SK Modified® division that we are able to offer one of the largest winner’s purses anywhere in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series to our SK Modified® competitors.”
