Call Before You Dig Becomes Newest Member of Stafford Motor Speedway Contingency Program
Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway’s SK Modified® competitors will have some extra cash to race for during the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season thanks to Call Before You Dig. CBYD has joined the track’s Contingency Program for the 2010 season, offering a $125 bonus to the second place finisher in each SK Modified® feature event during the 2010 season.
“We’re please to welcome Call Before You Dig as our newest member of our family of contingency sponsors,” said Mark Arute, SMS COO/GM. “Call Before You Dig has been a great advertising partner to work with the past three seasons and they are providing a great benefit for our SK Modified® teams. Having CBYD increase their participation with us as a contingency sponsor speaks well about the return that advertising with Stafford Motor Speedway gives to our sponsors.”
Beginning in 2007, Call Before You Dig has been the title sponsor of the track’s Technical Inspection Zone, and they will once again serve in that capacity for the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season. In addition to sponsoring the Inspection Zone, Call Before You Dig has also maintained an advertising presence in the Stafford Speedway PitStopper Magazine as well as a billboard display along the track’s backstretch.
“We were looking for a way to get our name out there and we thought that advertising at Stafford Motor Speedway would be a great way to do that,” said John Bonville of CBYD. “The clientele at Stafford fits right into our target market and becoming a contingency partner is another avenue for us to gain exposure. The more exposure we can get for CBYD and the services we offer, the better. We had done some advertising previously at other area tracks, but we wanted to be associated with the premier racetrack in Connecticut, and that is Stafford Motor Speedway.”
CBYD was recently honored by Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell, who issued a proclamation designating April as Call Before You Dig month in Connecticut.
“It’s an honor (that Rell signed the proclamation). It shows that the State of Connecticut has a vested interest in damage prevention and safety throughout the state”, said Claudia Kersten, Co-Chair of Damage Prevention and Education for CBYD, and a member of its board of directors.
Call Before You Dig is a non-profit organization comprised of all public utility companies and municipalities within Connecticut. CBYD is a free service that provides homeowners and professional excavators with a toll free number at 1-800-922-4455 to call for locating and marking underground facilities by its members. Anyone planning an outdoor project that requires digging with power or mechanized equipment must call a CBYD clearinghouse for a location request. There is a maze of utility lines and cables below the surface that need to be avoided. While hand digging is not required to notify CBYD, it is generally a good idea to contact them anyways as utility and cable lines can easily be sheared by a shovel, spade, pick, or other type of hand digging tool. In Connecticut, you can call 800-922-4455 for clearance before you dig. It is a free call to make, and calling CBYD before you dig is the law in Connecticut. Within 2 days of your call, a representative from each member utility company that will be affected by your dig will come to your site and mark the location of their underground facilities with color coded paint or flags. Location requests are good for 30 days from the time that they are issued. Call Before You Dig can be found online at www.cbyd.com for more information.
