Woody Pitkat has Busy Tech-Net Spring Sizzler Schedule Lined Up
Stafford Springs, CT — As the 2010 season kicks off at Stafford Motor Speedway with the 39th Annual Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, the busiest man on the grounds will be Woody Pitkat. Pitkat will race in the Whelen Modified Tour 200-lap Tech-Net Spring Sizzler as well as the SK Modified® and Late Model feature events. Pitkat will pilot the #28 Ramar-Hall car for owner Don King in the Whelen Modified Tour, the #52 Davidson Company car owned by Tim Rowe in the SK Modified® division, and the #88 New Haven Truck and Autobody Chevrolet owned by Billy Snow, Sr. in the Late Model division. Pitkat knows he will have his hands full as he tries to balance his time between the three cars during Spring Sizzler weekend, but he would gladly add to his already busy schedule if he had the opportunity.
“The hardest part is going non-stop, you don’t really get much time for a break to grab something to eat or drink,” said Pitkat. “Practice is also difficult because as soon as you finish one practice session, you have to get over to the other car and get on track, so you don’t have as much time to debrief as you would like with your team. You have to give your guys a real quick rundown on what the car was doing and then move on to the next car. Luckily I’ve been with the same crew guys for a while now and I’m very fortunate with the teams that I have working with me. We’ve done this several times now where I’m going from car to car, so we know what to expect. We have two days at the Sizzler, so it isn’t as bad as a regular Friday night event. If I had a car, and if they would let me race in the SK Lights, I would do that race too.”
Not only will Pitkat race for three different teams during Tech-Net Spring Sizzler Weekend, he will also race for three separate championships during the 2010 season; the SK Modified® and Late Model track championships at Stafford as well as the Whelen Modified Tour championship. Such a diverse schedule sets up a host of goals for the Stafford native, but one goal in particular remains close to Pitkat’s heart.
“In a dream world, I would win all three championships this year, but I don’t think that is a realistic goal,” said Pitkat. “I’ve never been one to be cocky and say that we’re going to go out and win all these championships. I think that if we can be in the top-5 and be a contender for the championships, then it will be a good year for me. With the Tour car, I’d like to get my first win and be in the top-5 in points. I’d like to show everyone that I can run better on the Tour than I have in the past. With the Late Model I want to be able to help the Snow team get to where they want to be in the Late Model division and get them a win so they can taste what it’s like to go to victory lane. But the biggest thing for me this year is to win an SK championship. I’ve said it many times before and I’ll keep on saying it until I’m not racing anymore, if it wasn’t for Mr. Rowe giving me a call to drive his car after I lost my ride with the DiPisa’s, I wouldn’t be here today. We’ve been so close to winning it before, I wanted to win a championship for Mr. Rowe when he was here with us and now I want to win the championship for Tim Rowe and his family. I drive just as hard for all three teams, but the SK Modified® championship is the one that I want the most.”
Pitkat’s busy weekend gets started on Friday, April 23 with a practice session for Stafford’s weekly divisions. The practice session will be open to the public at no charge. Action continues on Saturday, April 24 with Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the Whelen Modified Tour cars, along with heat and consolation races for Stafford’s weekly divisions. Saturday will conclude with feature events for the SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions. The Sizzler continues on Sunday, April 25 with the Tech-Net Pit Party followed by Stafford’s SK Modifieds® and Late Models joining the Whelen Modified Tour in feature action.
