Eve of Destruction Returns to Thompson Speedway
Thompson, CT — The exciting and fun-filled Eve of Destruction returns to the Thompson International Speedway on Sunday, May 30th. This “smash, crash and burn” family fun night is always a fan favorite that gets bigger and better each year. Gates will open at 1:30 PM so that youngsters can enjoy a midway filled with free inflatable action events. The Eve of Destruction program starts at 6 PM.
Monster truck mania, extreme motocross, street bike rider expo, the Crash Moreau Thrill Show and Transaurus, a metal marvel of the 21st century, are just some of the events that will be featured during this incredible program filled with non-stop action.
School busses, full size cars and four cylinder cars will be destroyed in the line up of demolition derbies and the annual Trailer Trash race will thrill fans once again. The evening will end with a big bang as a spectacular fireworks display will light up the eastern Connecticut skies.
Several area schools will compete for cash prizes in the school bus parade and the school bus demolition derby. Students from the participating schools have selected a theme for the paint scheme on their school’s bus. They spend hours painting the busses to reflect that theme and their work is judged by the huge crowd in attendance when the busses are paraded in front of the grandstands. The second chance for schools to receive cash awards is determined by how well their bus does in the school bus demolition derby.
Transaurus is the world’s only jet powered, fire-breathing, metal eating, transforming dinosaur of destruction. Eve of Destruction fans will see this 25,000 pound monster eating, ripping, chewing, burning and destroying anything and everything that gets in its way. Transaurus, back by popular demand, has appeared in movies, TV programs and commercials and was a huge hit when it first appeared at the Speedway.
Thompson International Speedway’s annual Eve of Destruction has become a must see event for the entire family. It is a Memorial Day weekend tradition that presents a mixture of fan favorites along with new and exciting events each year. The evening is family priced with adult admission only $18.00, juniors ages six to fourteen priced at just $10.00 and those five years of age and under are admitted free.
