QUALIFYING: Santos Takes Pole At Stafford
Ties record with third consecutive pole this season
Stafford Springs, CT — Bobby Santos is on a rail this season in the Mystic Missle Dodge. He is three-for-three in time trials after setting the fast mark of 18.090 seconds (99.502 mph) in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying for the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday.
In winning his third consecutive pole to start the season, Santos tied the mark set last year by Ted Christopher.
Santos edged Chuck Hossfeld for the top spot in qualifying on Friday. They were followed by Ron Silk, Rob Summers and George Brunnhoelzl III. Completing the top 10 were Richie Pallai Jr., Eric Bendt, Justin Bonsignore, Christopher and Jimmy Blewett.
Christopher was first to qualify on Friday and held the fast mark for much of the session. Berndt eventually knocked him off the top spot, but Eric Goodale took the provisional pole soon after that. Santos, who was quickest during practice despite only running seven laps earlier in the day, went out later in the session and turned in a lap that was 0.065 seconds quicker than anyone.
The green flag for the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 is set to wave at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday.
