Keith Rocco Set to Defend Title in 37th Annual Coors Light SK Modified® 100 at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford’s SK Modified® division takes to the track for the first of two extra distance events of the 2010 season with the 37th Annual Coors Light SK Modified® 100 on June 11. Keith Rocco has been the man to beat in the SK Modified® division thus far in 2010 at Stafford, winning three of the first five races. Rocco outlasted Stafford’s all-time winningest driver Ted Christopher in a duel for the ages in last year’s Coors Light SK Modified® 100, swapping the lead no less than 5 times over the final 35 laps of the race, and he looks to once again reign supreme in the extra distance classic.

“I really like the extra distance races,” said Rocco. “We have a really good car for the extra distance races and last year was one of the best races I’ve ever had racing with Ted [Christopher]. I had a lot of fun racing with Ted last year and hopefully he has a good car and we can put on another good show.”

With third place finishes in the Coors Light SK Modified® 100 and the CARQUEST SK®150 in 2008 and his win in last year’s Coors Light SK Modified® 100, Rocco certainly knows what it takes to have his car in contention for the longer races and he expects to once again be a contender for the checkered flag at the end of the race.

“There’s not much different we do in preparing for the extra distance events, just make sure there’s plenty of fuel in the car and the fluids in the car are all fresh,” said Rocco. “I like to get to the front as quick as possible because that’s the safest place to be on the track. Plus, once you get into the top-5 you can conserve a bit and not kill the car so that you have something left for the end of the race. It takes a good combination of balance and having everything right on the car and when you have a good car you don’t have to overdrive the car. With the longer races, it’s all about being there at the end of the race. We have an awesome car on long green flag runs and if we don’t abuse the car during the race then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be in contention again this year.”

Rocco will have plenty of competition for the checkered flag in the field for this year’s Coors Light SK Modified® 100. Former Stafford SK Modified® extra distance feature winners that will join Rocco in this year’s field include Eric Berndt, Ted Christopher, Todd Owen, Woody Pitkat, and Frank Ruocco.
