Modified Racing Series Tops June 17th Action at Thompson
Thompson, CT — The Modified Racing Series (formerly the True Value Modifieds) will headline the racing action on Thursday, June 17th, at the Thompson International Speedway. This exciting Modified race car touring series will make the first of two scheduled stops at Thompson this season with a 75-lap feature event.
The MRS is enjoying one of its most successful seasons ever and will roll into Thompson with an impressive roster of race teams. This extremely competitive series has generated a tremendous fan following for their 2010 program. These MRS race teams shine when they take to the big Thompson Speedway and always give the fans an exciting event.
Les Hinkley is the current points leader in the MRS series with Steve Masse, Dwight Jarvis, Rowan Pennink and Ken Barry rounding out the top five in the points standings just prior to the half way mark in the racing season. Other drivers looking to improve their points standings at Thompson will be former champion, Chris Pasteryak, Mike Stefanik, Matt Hirschman, Andy Seuss and others.
The MRS competes in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Mass, CT and NY. To date, there has not been a repeat winner in 2010. Doug Coby won the series opener and was followed in victory lanes by Rowan Pennink, Dwight Jarvis, Les Hinkley and Steve Masse. The competition is first rate and a new face could easily become the next winning driver at the conclusion of the 75-lap main at Thompson.
The MRS will be joined by Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Super 6 racing divisions. Fans will be treated to a full night of exciting, wheel-to-wheel racing with qualifying races for the MRS series beginning at 6 PM. Thompson’s Super 6 divisions will compete in feature racing only. Feature event racing for Thompson Modifieds and Mini Stocks is slated to begin at 5:45 PM.
This extra special racing event is family priced at just $20.00 for adults and only $5.00 for youngsters ages six to fourteen. Little ones five years of age and under are always free at Thompson.
