Kyle Busch Inching Closer to Making Nationwide History
Loudon, NH — How good is Kyle Busch? He is not even running a full time Nationwide Series schedule this season, yet he is closing in on the record books faster than he can get around “The Magic Mile.”
At today’s New England 200, Busch has three direct opportunities to land in the Nationwide Series history books, two of which involve another NASCAR star, Mark Martin.
Busch needs to lead only 91 laps to pass Mark Martin for the most all-time laps led in NASCAR Nationwide Series history. Busch has led 7992 laps and Martin has led 8082.
Winning from the pole is also something Kyle has definitely figured out. He has eight career Nationwide Series wins from the first position. Should he win the pole and the race today, he will tie Mark Martin with nine victories from the top qualifying position.
To add to his history making season, Busch can race to second place on the all-time NASCAR Nationwide Series wins list. At just 25 years old, he has taken 35 NASCAR Nationwide Series checkered flags, including one here. In fact, Busch rolls into NHMS as the defending New England 200 winner.
