Homecoming For Several Drivers At Lee Modified Race
Lee, NH — Several former weekly racers at Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH., will return where their racing careers started when the Modified Racing Series, sponsored by Bob ValentiAutoMall.Com, competes in the 7th annual “Laticrete Port City 100” Friday night July 9.
The 100 lap green flag race for modified race cars has drawn interest from drivers throughout the northeast as well as local favorites, some who have visited victory lane
at the popular 3/8 mile oval.
Early entries indicate former Lee regular Louie Mechalides, Tyngsboro, MA., winner of the 2007 race, will compete in the event. He’ll be joined by 2009 series champion Jon McKennedy, E.Chelmsford, MA. Mike Ordway, Jr., Fremont, NH., Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH., Mike Douglas, Jr., Auburn, NH., Norman Wrenn, Nashua, NH., Eric Hudson, Goffstown, NH., and Mike Murphy, Groveland, MA. All at one time were weekly racers at Lee before moving on to the potent 600 horse-powered modifieds.
Kirk Alexander, Swanzey, NH., winner of the race in 2005 and 2006, is entered along with Les Hinckley, the 2007 victor. The 2009 winner, Jimmy Kuhn, W.Bridgewater, MA., is expected to try and make it two in a row.
2009 Koszela Speed Rookie of the Year driver, Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME., has entered the mid-summer classic. Candidates for this years Koszela award, Joey Jarvis, Ascutney, VT., Max Zachem, Preston, CT., and Todd Annarummo, Swansea, MA., are also expected.
Veteran drivers, Kenny Barry, Preston, CT., Rob Goodenough, Swanzey, NH., and Carl Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., will try to win the $3,000 first place prize.
