Jeff Baral Looks Forward to SK Modified® Twin 40-Lap Features Aug. 13th at SMS

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford’s SK Modified® division takes center stage next Friday night, August 13th with twin 40-lap features. The double feature night means a possible 100 SK Modified® championship points will be on the line, which can either help or seriously hinder a driver’s position in the SK Modified® championship standings. One driver who is looking forward to 2 races in one evening is Jeff Baral, driver of the #20 Fournier Motorsports / Rewind Hangover Prevention Ford.

“I like the double feature nights,” said Baral. “I remember back in the day the double feature night was a scheduled event. We would go out and run a 40-lap race, then sit on pit road and work on the cars while the DARE Stock feature went out, and then we would go back out for the second race. This year will be a little different because the track really changes from the heat of the day to night when the sun goes down. The first race will be more like a setup we run for practices and heat races and the second feature will be more of a setup like we’re used to running for the feature. Hopefully guys will use their heads in the first race and then we can go for it in the second race.”

Baral and the #20 team are coming off one of their best finishes of the 2010 season, a fourth place finish in the prestigious CARQUEST SK 150, and the double feature night will be a great opportunity for Baral to improve his position in the points standings.

“We keep an eye on the points, but we haven’t won a race yet and our focus is on getting a win,” said Baral. “I think we have a good enough team and a good enough car to win. Everyone on the team was real happy with how we ran in the 150, that was the best the car has been in the last couple of races.

We started the season real strong, but once the weather heated up, we struggled with the car. But we ran from lap 1 to lap 150 last week and the car didn’t change at all and it handled great. We had a lot of fans supporting us and we had folks from Rewind in the grandstands, so it was a great night for us. The championship might be a little out of reach for us with how good Keith [Rocco] is going this year, but we can definitely catch Teddy [Christopher] and Woody [Pitkat]. Our goal is to get a win or two before the season ends and get a top-5 finish in the points.”

The SK Modified® 40-lap feature that is being made up from Friday, July 16th will kick things off at 6:00pm. Following the first SK Modified® feature  will be heat and consolation events and then the regularly scheduled NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature events, including a second SK  Modified® 40-lap feature event.

Tickets for the August 13 Twin 40-lap SK Modified® event are $15.00 for adult general admission, $5.00 for children ages 6-14 general admission and FREE for Children 5 & Under.
