Late Move Seals Win For Miller
Takes Whelen Southern Modified lead with Bowman Gray victory
Winston-Salem, NC — L.W. Miller used a late pass of Burt Myers to claim the checkered flag in the Strutmasters.com 199 presented by 104.1 WTQR at Bowman Gray Stadium Saturday night. It was the first NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour win for Miller since April of 2008.
Myers finished second, followed by John Smith, Jason Myers and Andy Seuss.
Frank Fleming was sixth and Coors Light Pole Award winner Zach Brewer seventh. Brandon Hire, Josh Nichols and Randy Butner rounded out the top 10.
Myers led a race-high 145 laps before Miller made a move on Lap 183 and passed him in Turn 3.
Miller’s previous best finish at Bowman Gray was second in 2006. The win allowed Miller to take over the points lead from James Civali, who finished 13th. Miller has 826 points, followed by Civali with 794 and Seuss with 792.
The Strutmasters.com 199 is scheduled to air on VERSUS on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will return to the track Wednesday, Aug. 18 for the annual combination race with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Bristol Motor Speedway.
