New Approach, New Look, Same Goal for RAC in 2011
Racing Against Cancer Program Launches New Fundraising Campaign & Fresh New Website
Westbrook, CT — For nearly 15 years the Racing Against Cancer TM (RAC) Program has successfully motivated members of the local and regional racing community to help raise in excess of $660,000 for the fight against cancer. In 2011, the RAC Program will continue to depend on the support of local racers but will also look for participation in a different way. Following in the footsteps of the American Cancer Society, a major beneficiary of the charitable organization, the Racing Against Cancer has adopted a new “Track Walk” Program as the core of their fundraising efforts.
“Our mission continues to be to raise money for cancer research, patient services, youth tobacco educational programs, and awareness,” said Scott Gregory, Director of Operations for the Racing Against Cancer Program. “RAC team members are still encouraged to continue with the unique fundraising efforts that they have initiated over the years. The “Track Walk” Program is a way for us to expand our reach, increase fundraising revenues and ultimately fortify our impact on the fight against cancer.”
During the 2011 season, the Racing Against Cancer Team will host “Track Walks” at race tracks throughout the U.S. Participants will form teams of eight to 15 members who will share in the responsibility of completing laps around the race facility over a 2-to 24-hour period. Team members will help raise money by obtaining donations and securing sponsorship dollars for each lap completed by the team.
Teams will don a designated number and/or color to keep in the motorsports theme. Throughout the course of the event, teams will be treated to a number of fun activities.
The first RAC Track Walk will take place in May of 2011 at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, NC, with the support of its owner Ray Evernham and his wife Erin Crocker.
With the new approach comes an all-new website for the Racing Against Cancer Program. The sleek new web page offers easy navigation; allowing quick and easy access to a number of pages providing up-to-date news on the Track Walk Program and all other RAC events. The site, RacingAgainstCancer.com, also provides and in-depth view of the benefactors of the RAC Program.
Current and future supporters of Racing Against Cancer and the all-new Track Walk Program are encouraged to visit RacingAgainstCancer.com to learn more about Racing Against Cancer Programs that aid in the fight against cancer.
