Ted Christopher Wins Inaugural Shark Cycle 100 Modified Racing Series Event at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — With 109 career victories at Stafford Motor Speedway, Ted Christopher recorded several firsts in winning the Inaugural Shark Cycle 100 Modified Racing Series event at Stafford Motor Speedway. It was the first race held at Stafford for the Modified Racing Series and it was also Christopher’s first career Modified Racing Series feature victory, bringing his career Stafford win total to 110. Christopher started third, took the lead on lap-2, and led the rest of the way.

The race took the green flag with Ronnie Silk pacing the field, but he was quickly overtaken by Ted Christopher for the race lead on lap-2. Silk settled into second place behind Christopher with Rowan Pennink, Chris Pasteryak, and Jeff Malave making up the early top-5.

Christopher and Silk were running nose to tail several car lengths ahead of Pennink in third, and the top-5 ran in line until the first caution came out with 24 laps complete as Steven Masse and Lou Mechalides spun in turn 2.

Christopher charged back into the lead on the restart, pulling away from Silk in second. Pennink, Malave, Pasteryak, Eric Goodale, and Richard Savary were tucked in tight behind Silk. The top-5 again ran in line until the caution came back out with 34 laps complete for a spin by Rob Janovic in turn 4.

On the restart, Silk made a strong bid to take the lead from Christopher on the high side, but Christopher was able to keep his car out front. Pennink and Malave were side by side for third with Pennink getting the better of that duel. Goodale worked his way around Pasteryak to take over the fifth position.

At the halfway point of the race, Christopher was still the race leader over Silk, Pennink, Malave, and Goodale. Pasteryak was sixth, with Bryon Chew, Savary, Bobby Santos, III, and Jon McKennedy making up the second half of the top-10.

Over the second half of the race, Christopher slowly pulled away from Silk and was never challenged as he scored a dominating victory. Silk came home second with Pennink, Malave, and Pasteryak rounding out the top-5.
