Speedbowl preparing for 10 divisions at Finale Weekend
Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl’s annual Finale Weekend is fast approaching under two weeks away, October 8th-10th. A total of 10 feature races will take to the track over the weekend offering fans a variety of close competition and exciting racing amongst a host of divisions.
The 14th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals 150-lap SK Modified® race takes center stage Sunday, October 10th boasting total prize money of over $20,000. The race winner walks away $5,000 richer, the biggest payday across the Northeast for the division. Not to be overshadowed, the ACT Late Model Tour closes their season and points battle at the Speedbowl in a 150-lap race of their own on Sunday with posted awards of greater than $28,000. The duo of ground pounding Modifieds and best in Late Model racing throughout New England and beyond make the weekend a must-see for any racer and race fan.
A 50-lap Street Stock Showdown, an Outlaw Mini Stock Madness event and Outlaw Stock race are also on the weekend schedule with $500 going to each race winner. The popular 25-lap Outlaw Stock race is back again in 2010 and welcomes most any rear-wheel drive American made car or truck with at least a 104” wheelbase from across New England’s short tracks. Engine rules are a steel block, steel heads, and any single carburetor.

Trucks, Legends Cars, Allison Legacy North Series, eight-cylinder Super X Cars and four-cylinder X Cars round out the race divisions on hand during the blockbuster weekend of racing. Competitors from tracks across New England are welcomed to attend Finale Weekend after checking division rules to assure their racecar is eligible.
Saturday, October 9th’s schedule is headlined by Modified Nationals qualifying. Time Trials determine the top 20 starting positions for Sunday’s 150-lap feature, with $500 going to the fastest on the clock. A consolation race makes up the remainder of the 26-car starting field. Waterford Speedbowl track rules will be enforced at the event.
Heat and consolation races on Saturday set the stage for Sunday’s 150-lap ACT Late Model race. Event entry blanks are required and are available by contacting the ACT Tour office at media@acttour.com or Speedbowl track office at info@speedbowl.com.
The remainder of Saturday’s schedule sees the Outlaw Mini Stock Madness, Outlaw Stocks, Trucks, Allison Legacy North Series, eight-cylinder Super X Cars and four-cylinder X Cars in action with qualifying and main events. Legends Cars and Street Stocks will qualify on Saturday for their main events on Sunday. Saturday action begins at approximately 2:30pm following practice.
Sunday, October 10th‘s card has the Modified Nationals, ACT-150, Legends Cars and Street Stock Showdown features on tap. The day is kicked off by the popular Speedbowl Pit Party at 10:00am prior to racing. The first green flag waves at 12:30pm Sunday.
Friday, October 8th the Speedbowl will host open practice only for divisions in competition during Finale Weekend. ACT Late Model practice is Saturday only, per Tour regulations. Grandstands are not open on Friday and pit gates open at 12:30pm.
