PRACTICE: Beers Leads Stafford Field
Points Leader Santos Second Fastest
Stafford Springs, CT — Eric Beers paced the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour field during practice Saturday in preparation for the CARQUEST Fall Final at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Beers, driver of the No. 76 Horwith Freightliner Chevrolet, toured the half-mile Stafford oval in 18.177 seconds (99.026 mph) during the 90-minute session Saturday morning.
Points leader Bobby Santos was second-fastest at 18.224 (98.771) followed by Glen Reen at 18.368 (97.997). Justin Bonsignore, Chuck Hossfeld, Ron Silk, Rowan Pennink, Todd Szegedy, Eric Goodale and Eric Berndt rounded out the top-10 fastest cars.
Mike Stefanik – second in points entering the race – was 18th on the speed chart.
Beers is a two-time pole winner at Stafford, and will get a chance to add to his total with qualifying starting at 2:15 p.m.
