Dave Richardi Goes Pole to Checker at Seekonk Speedway
Seekonk, MA — The RF Logic/ Bot- L Gas Pro Four Modifieds set pace at this weekend’s DAV Fall Classic at Seekonk Speedway. The Pro Fours were the first feature of the night, and put on quite a show. Dave Richardi and Phil Lausier brought the field to the green. As they took off #10 Brian Vincent got a little squirrely allowing Adam Norton to sneak under. After regaining pace, Vincent was able to get back by Norton and settle into single file.
By lap six, D. Richardi had already pulled a commanding lead, while the #16 of Stan Mertz was black flagged and by lap nine the leaders began to lap the field. At this point, Mertz went spinning and pulled in to the infield and the race remained under green. Lap twelve saw some hard racing for third place between Lausier and Norm Wrenn, but it came to a halt when Robin Berghman went spinning into the dirt, bringing out the first caution of the event.
During the caution #71 Doug Meservey was in and out of the pits by the time the field went back to green flag racing. On the start, it was Richardi with the jump as Lausier got in line, and then looked to the high side. Wrenn was able to get under Lausier at this point, and Norton, Dan Meservey, Jr. and Tyler Anderson all looked to follow through. By lap 15 Wrenn was all over D. Richardi looking for the pass while further back in the pack Rob Richardi, Jr. looked to get under Vincent for 7th and Cory Cleary looked to make the same move. Richardi, Jr. then brought out the second caution of the evening when he spun. Within just two laps of the restart, the drivers were all single file, as Bergman pulled off the track and called it a night.
A caution on lap 27 for the stalled car of Anderson called for a single file restart from the officials. From this point on, D. Richardi fought off a strong Wrenn, and was able to drive away with the victory.
