The New England Truck Series Championship season point’s race was held Saturday October 16th at Thompson International Speedway World Series Event with a close contention in points this season for the first NETS Champion in this new series.

Frank Dumicich, Jr. #42 of East Quoque, NY, a visiting racer, won the victory lane spot at the NETS race World Series Weekend Event. As the green flag dropped, the trucks raced by the start finish line with #16 Auchmoody in fifth position alongside the #6 Dan Butler going into turn one, as #95 Erin Dumicich drove in between them making it three wide on the starting lap sending Butlers front bumper to the wall pulling out the first caution. Lining the field back to its original line up, the green flag dropped a second time with the #85 Greg Butler on the outside pole position taking the lead ahead of the #12 Derek Chriss on lap one of the twenty-five lap race.

Gee Perry #83 of Grandby, CT moved up and took the over the lead position by lap two. Back in the pack, the #72 Michael Power Truck of Port Jefferson, NY, ended his night in contact with Dumicich Jr. resulting with a flat tire. While in a caution, the #22 Keith Chapman exited the track with a loose hood finishing his night. By lap seven, the #5 truck of Frank Dumicich, Sr in turn three, pulled off the track down pit row ending his night also with a flat. Dumicich, Jr was making tracks toward the front; cutting down Perry’s lead with each lap. Dumicich, Jr. caught Perry exiting turn four on lap nine, and was the new leader on lap ten. Roger Turbush #88 of Riverhead, NY ran alone in third ahead of a heated battle for the fourth spot between the #3 of Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY and #85 Greg Butler, Jr. of East Hampton, CT. Holding the sixth position, the #12 of Derek Chriss of Averill, NY with #46 of Tom Smith of Hope Valley, RI in tow.

At halfway, an incident involving Willy Auchmoody #16 of Highland, NY and the #95 Dodge of Erin Dumicich of East Quoque, NY, brought out the caution at which ended Auchsmoody’s night in the points battle for championship with a busted front end and radiator. On the ensuing restart, Turbush pushed Dumicich, Jr. into the lead once again. Perry was able to retain the second position as the trucks fell in line single file. The handle appeared to be going away on Dumicich’s #42; allowing Perry to reel in the leader. Lindeman and Butler resumed their battle for fourth as the two went door-to-door for several laps before Butler motored ahead. The #15 Bert Ouellette Truck was consistently holding on to the eighth spot throughout the second half of the race without contact. The #41 Veteran driver, Mike Carriagg, held his line behind Ouellette, Smith, and Butler.

Up front, the distance between the lead trio had stabilized with Dumicich, Jr. in control. Dumicich, Jr. took the win over Perry and Turbush. Butler and Lindeman completed the top five.
