Meet New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s General Manager in Training
Loudon, NH — It was a dream come true for race fan Alden Hussey, when he became New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s general manager in training yesterday.
Hussey, a Concord, N.H., native will turn 12 years old on Jan. 22 and was given the opportunity to manage “The Magic Mile” with a little help from executive vice president and general manager, Jerry Gappens.
Alden, who has a form of autism called Asperger’s syndrome began attending races and other events at NHMS four years ago with his grandfather Jay Chamberlain. Chamberlain is also an avid race fan and has been coming to the speedway since it’s opening in 1990.
The young executive is already beginning to sound like a true speedway general manager. When asked who his favorite race car driver is, Alden’s grandfather replied, “He really doesn’t have a favorite, he just wants to see a good race.”
“Alden definitely has the makings of a great race track general manager,” said Gappens. “Putting on a good show for the fans is one of the most important parts of the job.”
