Practice: Fast Times at Stafford
Three cars under Santos’ qualifying record
Stafford Springs, CT — The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams turned in a fast practice session Saturday morning in advance of the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler presented by CARQUEST at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Eric Beers and Rowan Pennink tied for the fastest lap in the 90-minute session at 17.929 seconds (100.396 mph) while Doug Coby was third-fastest at 17.962 (100.212). All three came in under the Whelen Modified Tour’s track qualifying record of 17.965 (100.195) set by Bobby Santos in last year’s Spring Sizzler.
Justin Bonsignore was fourth on the board followed by Santos, Todd Szegedy, Ryan Preece, Kevin Goodale, Patrick Emerling and Mike Stefanik in the top 10. Bonsignore, Santos and Szegedy also eclipsed the 100 mph average lap speed.
