Sunoco Modifieds to Benefit from Big Dollar Increase This Thursday at Thompson
Thompson, CT — The Sunoco Modified division will see a big increase in their race pay off this Thursday thanks to LaFramboise Well Drilling and Water Service of Thompson. The winner of this week’s 30-lap main event will receive $2,000.00 for their efforts and just about everyone else will see additional money thanks to the local well drilling and water service company. This race, like all at Thompson, is open to any Sunoco Modified type car that races in Connecticut.
“LaFramboise Well Drilling and Water Service has been a long-time supporter of events at the Thompson International Speedway and we welcome their support for our weekly season-opening race. Their support of the Sunoco Modified division will go a long way to help these race teams and should make the competition especially exciting. Every race team will be looking to cash in on the $2,000.00 to win race this Thursday, May 12th. Additional money has been added throughout the published pay off as a result of the LaFramboise sponsorship,” said track owner, Don Hoenig.
The Speedway recently announced another contingency program that will add some $10,000 to be awarded to competitors in each of the track’s “Super Six” NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. These contingency dollars will be awarded on top of the published purse structure announced earlier this year by the track.
Opening night of the popular Thursday Night Thompson Thunder programs will get underway with qualifying races at 6:15 PM. Fans have come to expect exceptional, wheel-to-wheel competition from everyone of the six weekly divisions and it all gets underway this week.
Thompson has also added a new weekly event to the 2011 schedule. Tuesday nights will offer fans and competitors alike something new and exciting. Holeshot Drags, something brand new at Thompson, will be the Tuesday night attraction and will offer a fun-filled outing for both participants and fans. The Tuesday night drags are sanctioned by the Holeshot Drag Racing Association. General admission is only $6.00. Pit/Infield passes are priced at $10.00 and car entry for the competition is $30.00. Everyone interested in the Holeshot Drags is urged to visit the HDRA web page. There is an HDRA link on the Thompson Speedway web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com.
