Vintage Celebration Closes with Awards

Loudon, NH — The checkered flag has waved on New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 21st Annual Vintage Racing Celebration, wrapping up five straight days of racing.

Hundreds of vintage cars and motorcycles raced through the rain and took advantage of late week dryness on the speedway’s 1.058-mile and 1.6-mile road course throughout the week for both bragging rights and a few trophies.

Frank Camillieri of Chester, N.H., claimed the Bryar Cup yesterday. This is Camilleri’s 12th consecutive year coming to “The Magic Mile.”

“This event is so close to home, it really is the only event I come to,” said Camilleri. “It’s a lot of fun though, probably more fun than an old guy should be having.”

The Loudon trophy went to rookie driver Alex Vogel, who races with friend and mentor Dan Scully.

“I’ve only been racing a couple of years, so this comes as a complete surprise,” said Vogel. “Dan (Scully) took me to my first race in about 1990; it was a vintage race at Limerock, he got me hooked. He’s been an inspiration to me because he just gets out there and does it.”

The Classic and Custom Car Show winners included; Butch Hashey, Mark Anger, Bob Boulanger, Jeff and Brenda Fendley, Sid Page, Ken Hudson, Gary and Debra Neil, Michael Lindh, Nicholas Buonopane, Melissa and Dick Plante, Brian Carswell, James Charette, Blue Nose Racing, Richard Snyder, Glenn Wuellenweber, John Russell, Michael and Charlene Magoon, Stan Page and Les Sanborn.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway would like to thank all of the participants and fans who came out to support the 21st Annual Vintage Racing Celebration.
