Ricky’s Chase To The Race Kicks Off At Thompson June 16
Lebanon, NH — With the first qualifying event in the four-race “Ricky’s Chase To The Race” series less than two weeks away, the family of the late modified driver, Ricky Miller, is putting the final touches on the special qualifying series that will pay additional prize money to competitor’s vying for a guaranteed starting position in the big race.
The race benefits David’s House, a home away from home for families with ill or injured children receiving treatment through children’s hospital at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
The first race is Thursday night, June 16, at Thompson Speedway, Thompson, CT. The Stafford Springs Motor Speedway, Stafford CT., will host the second race, Friday, June 24, and then the attention swings north to New Hampshire at Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH., July 2, and Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH., July 8, for the third and fourth races.
Retired racing great Donnie Miller Sr, himself a long-time successful modified racer, is excited for the new qualifying series he and his family have established.
“We wanted to add something different this year, take it to the next level .Not only is it the highest posted purse for the Valenti Modified Racing Series, but we have added the four-race series giving the competitor a chance to add to their winnings.” he said. The four races will carry it’s own point fund.
The driver with the highest point position, not a guaranteed starter, will receive a guaranteed starting spot. Point payoff for the four-race shootout will pay, $1200 to win, $600 for second, $400 for third, $300 for fourth, $200 for fifth, and $100 for sixth.
A race winner bonus has been posted based on races won. A driver that wins two out of four races scores a $1,000.00 bonus, three out of four races, a $2500.00 bonus, and a four-race sweep, a $5.000.00, bonus.
The winner of each race will receive a special commemorative desk clock presented to them by a David’s House family.
Bonus winners MUST compete in Ricky’s Race For Kids on July 16th at Canaan Fair Speedway to be compensated.
The four-race series serves as a prelim to the grand finale, the Ricky’s Race For Kids 112-lap VMRS race at Canaan Fair Speedway, Saturday, July 16.
