Firestone Indy Lights Test at NHMS
Loudon, NH — New Hampshire Motor Speedway experienced its fastest laps of 2011 today, when Firestone Indy Lights Team Moore Racing tested for the upcoming race on Aug. 14.
Victor Garcia and Gustavo Yacaman zipped around “The Magic Mile” at speeds for the first time in their racing careers at speeds of up to 170 mph and liked what they saw.
Yacaman, a native of Colombia pilots the No. 2 Team Moore TMR XTREME Coil Drilling car, who boasts seven top-fives and 15 top-10 finishes in his Firestone Indy Lights career, shared his thoughts on NHMS.
“It’s a different track than the tracks we have been to. The good thing is that it is really warm today so it’s similar to what we will face in August. I am really happy about the day so far and I think we’re getting close to top-speed,” he said.
Madrid, Spain native Victor Garcia also tested his No. 22 Team Moore TMR XTREME Coil Drilling car at “The Magic Mile.” He recently took home the checkered flag at Barber Motorsports Park and currently sits third in the Firestone Indy Lights championship standings and is extremely excited to return to the 1.058-mile oval in August.
“The test has been really good so far. I have to say the track, I am really amazed with. I have been on four other ovals, but this one I like most. It’s almost flat out but not all the way flat out. After testing here, this has been the best oval I have been to.”
Both drivers will return to NHMS for the Firestone Indy Lights 100 race on Sunday, Aug. 14. For tickets to this and all other major events at New England’s largest sports and entertainment facility including the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on July 17, the INDYCAR 225 on Aug. 14 and the SYLVANIA 300 on Sept. 25, please call the NHMS ticket hotline at (603) 783-4931 or visit www.nhms.com.
