Valenti Modified Racing Series at Thompson This Week
Thompson, CT — The Valenti Modified Racing Series will highlight the competition this Thursday night at the Thompson International Speedway. This impressive touring series boasts a roster of Modified drivers that includes many of the very best drivers in the entire northeast. Thursday night’s appearance will be the first of two scheduled races for the VMRS at Thompson this year.
The Thompson race will be the 5th event in their 17 race schedule and promises to be one of the best of the year. VMRS race teams love the big, high banked, super fast Thompson track where there is lots of room to get the most out of their racers.
Rowan Pennink is the current points leader in the VMRS. His lead, however, is tenuous at best since Chris Pasteryak is a mere two points behind the leader and Les Hinkley finds himself only two points behind Pasteryak. The competition to maintain the top spot or to take over the number one position will be fierce.
Many other Thompson Speedway veterans compete in the VMRS and they could very well upset the standings once the 75-lap feature event is completed. Drivers like Doug Coby, Kirk Alexander, Matt Hirschman, Keith Rocco and Ken Barry are more than capable of snatching a win in this much anticipated event. Qualifying for the VMRS is done through heat races and, if necessary, a final chance consolation event will determine the starting field.
This very popular racing series has always been a fan favorite at Thompson. Anticipation is running high as the date, Thursday, June 16th approaches. It will be a night filled with high speed competition as the VMRS will be joined by Thompson’s own Sunoco Modifieds, Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, Late Models, XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman and Monster Mini Stocks.
