Rain KO’s the Konk Action
Seekonk, MA — For the first time this season, and the third straight year, the Valenti Modified Racing Series 100 lap event has been cancelled due to rain. With a steady rainfall on Saturday, and a consistent forecast for continuing rainfall, management was forced to pull the plug early.
This was the second cancellation of the weekend, as the second week of Fast Friday action was cancelled the evening before for intermittent showers. While just about each week had rain of some sort, and even cut the action early a couple of times, this was the first cancellation of the season.
Early season action has seen 5 different winners in 5 races for the A.R.C. Pro Stocks. Dave Darling, Scott Dion, Fred Astle Jr, Mike Brightman and rookie Colby Fournier have all carried the checkered flag for the division. 2011 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive years for the Pro Stocks.
This week will feature the A.R.C. Pro Stocks, Late Models, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks. They will be joined by the American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association. This will be their first visit to the speedway in over 15 years. Action starts at 6pm on Saturday, June 18. For more information, check out our website at seekonkspeedway.com.
