Speedbowl hosts action packed event for Whelen Engineering Night June 18
Double SK Modified® features headline; return of SK Light Modifieds and Scout Night also on tap
Waterford, CT — Recent weather over the past few weeks has wreaked havoc for race fans at Waterford Speedbowl, however their patience with Mother Nature will pay off this Saturday night when the track hosts Whelen Engineering Night. Scheduled on the night will be double 35-lap races for the SK Modifieds®, the headline division in the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The regularly scheduled event for June 18 will be joined by the held-over event from May 28, which was fogged out.
The twin SK Modified® features will bookend a total of seven main events on the night. Also part of the night’s events are a 30-lap Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model race, 25-lappers for the Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions plus the second 25-lap race of the year for the SK Light Modifieds which compete with the Speedbowl’s X-Modified division. The New England Truck Series, also making its second appearance of the season, will race 25-laps as well.
The popular Scout Night, an annual tradition at the Speedbowl, will also take place Saturday after weather postponed the event from June 11. Scout groups from across the region will participate in the evening’s activities including an on-track pit party at approximately 6:15pm between qualifying and opening ceremonies for the seven features.
All the extra action is provided for the regular admission price of $15.00 for adult grandstands, $5.00 for youth age 6-14 and absolutely free for kids age 5 and under. As always, the Speedbowl offers acres of free event parking. Spectator gates open at 3:00pm, qualifying races begin at 5:30pm followed by the on-track pit party, and the first of seven main events are slated to post at 7:00pm.
