Rain Forces Cancellation at Thompson Again
Thompson, CT — Two days of what seemed like non-stop rain forced Thompson International Speedway management to pull the plug on the Thursday, June 23, 2011 race program. Weather conditions coupled with a forecast for even more rain throughout the day and evening left Thompson officials no choice but to cancel early so that both fans and competitors alike would not begin to needlessly head for the track. This marks the third time this season that Mother Nature has forced a race cancellation.
Everyone will now set their sights on next Thursday, June 30th, when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour moves to Thompson for the running of the Budweiser “King of Beers” 150. Grandstand will open at 2 PM and time trials for the Modified Tour cars will get underway at 5:30 Pm. Joining the WMT will be Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series “Super 6” divisions competing in feature only events.
Tickets for next week’s Bud 150 are available at the Thompson track office. All major credit cards are accepted for advance ticket sales. Fans may call 860-923-2280. Full details on this much anticipated race are available on the tracks web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com.
