QUALIFYING: Newman Keeps Rolling
Sprint Cup star earns 4th Whelen Mod pole at New Hampshire
Loudon, NH — Ryan Newman continues to set the bar for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver won his fourth career Coors Light Pole Award Thursday – all at New Hampshire.
Newman, who swept the two races from the pole at the ‘Magic Mile’ last year, qualified at 29.586 seconds (128.737 mph) for Saturday’s FW Webb 100.
Ron Silk qualified second at 29.837 (127.654), and Todd Szegedy was third at 29.842 (127.632).
Bobby Santos III and Andy Petree rounded out the top five. Doug Coby was sixth in qualifying, followed by points leader Rowan Pennink, Ryan Preece, Matt Hirschman and Ted Christopher.
The FW Webb 100 is scheduled to go green at 1:10 p.m. Saturday.
