Former Plainville Stadium Driver Skip Zeigler Passes at 75
Terryville- Mr. Frank L. Zeigler, Sr, 75, died Sunday morning, July 31, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Linda J. (Hartt) Zeigler.
Mr. Zeigler was born January 11, 1936 in Waterbury son of the late Frank O. and Ruth F. (Weeks) Zeigler. He was raised in Thomaston and was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington. He had worked for 38 years as a mechanic for the former George’s Service Station in Thomaston. He was a race car enthusiast and raced and built modified race cars for twenty years, in 1966 he was track champion at Plainville Stadium.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Frank L. Zeigler, Jr of Beacon Falls; three daughters, Kelly A. McCormack and Pamela Szymanoski both of Kensington and Tracey A. Nichols of MO; three brothers, David A. Zeigler and Guy Zeigler both of Thomaston and Gene Zeigler of SC; one sister, Lee Kingsman of New Milford; eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Diane Sherman.
