Budweiser Modified Nationals Highlights Labor Day Weekend at Speedbowl

Part of annual Thunder on the Sound Saturday, September 3

Waterford, CT — The season’s biggest SK Modified® race is fast approaching at Waterford Speedbowl. The 15th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals is around the corner, slated for Saturday, September 3rd over a blockbuster Labor Day weekend of motorsports at the track.

While the $5,000 to win, 150-lap SK Modified® feature is the centerpiece of the event, it is just one of eight divisions scheduled on the night, presented by the Connecticut National Guard. While the Speedbowl competitors are busy putting the thunder on the asphalt, the Connecticut National Guard will provide it in the air with a special appearance.

The posted prize money for the Budweiser Modified Nationals exceeds $20,000. The race winner not only walks away with the biggest payday in the Northeast for the division, bragging rights follow for a full year. The winner’s name will join a list of Speedbowl greats in the division over the years including Ron Yuhas Jr., Dennis Gada, Ted Christopher, Jeff
Pearl and Eric Berndt among others.

In all, 11 different drivers have visited the winner’s circle over the 14 Mod Nationals events staged. Yuhas, Gada and Berndt are the only repeat winners with Yuhas winning the past two. No driver has won more than twice in the history of the event. Defending track champion and current championship point leader Keith Rocco seeks his first triumph in the marquee event of the SK Modified® season.

Qualifying for the 26-car starting field will also take place Saturday. Waterford Speedbowl track rules will be enforced at the event.

Joining the SK-150 on the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race program include the Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and SK Light Modifieds. The Legends Cars and Bandoleros plus the visiting Allison Legacy Series will also be on hand.

Fans are encouraged to visit Speedbowl.com from home or their mobile phone or more information about this event.
