First Atlantic City Indoor Race Entries Received, New Track Layout to Improve Racing & Viewing

Atlantic City, NJ — Registration is underway for Indoor Auto Racing to be held at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall in February. The 10th edition of the event under the direction of Len Sammons and staff is planned for Friday and Saturday nights Feb. 3-4, 2012. TQ (three quarter) Midgets, dirt 600cc Micro-Sprints, Slingshots and Champ Karts.

Competitors and fans will be greeted with an altered track layout for the ‘12 edition.

The entire oval will be shifted inside the hall for better fan sight lines. Competitors will enjoy wider corners and straightaways. The inside of the track’s turns will be marked by tires rather than guardrails. The tires were used successfully at Providence, R.I., for the previous events.

Jonathan Reid of Lockport, N.Y., filed the first TQ Midget entry for the ‘12 A.C. Indoor Race. Reid will drive a No. 9 for noted Western New York owner Harry Macy.

Manchester, N.J.’s Jimmy Carpenter was first to enter the 600cc Micro-Sprint portion of the weekend.

Kurt Bettler of Hellertown, Pa., led the Slingshot contingent, entering his No. 66 first, while Brianna Page of Brick, N.J., was first to enter the Champ Kart portion of the weekend.

Registration forms and race information can be obtained by visiting the Atlantic City Indoor Race page at www.aarn.com.

Tickets for the Atlantic City event are on sale now at Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com and at the Boardwalk Hall box office. Ticket prices remain the same as the past event. Premium seats sell out quickly.

Tickets and further information can also be obtained by calling the show office (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 609-888-3618.

Ted Christopher from Plainville, Conn. will be returning to defend the “Gambler’s Classic” title he won this past January in the headline Three-Quarter Midget division.

Christopher, the 2009 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, also won the “Coffee Cup” TQ-Midget feature held inside the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., to sweep last winter’s Indoor Racing Series.

The Providence events will again be held in 2012, on Sat.-Sun. March 10 and 11.

The Three-Quarter Midgets hit speeds upwards of 70 miles per hour while running around a course set-up on the historic landmark Boardwalk Hall concrete floor. Feature events find a minimum of 24 cars taking the green flag providing some hair raising action for fans.

Each year professional race car drivers from many different divisions of the sport; and over 10 different states, compete at the event.

The Champ Kart and Slingshot divisions will also be included in the exciting Atlantic City race weekend. Racing will begin on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Each night will include qualifying races and a feature event for the headline division.
