Paul Tommasino Looking to Put His Car into the Top-5 In Stafford’s SK Light Modified Division This Season
Stafford Springs, CT — After making his Stafford debut for the final 3 races of the 2010 season, Paul Tommasino returned to Stafford’s SK Light Modified division in 2011 and ran 12 of the 19 races, posting his first career top-10 finish in the process. For the 2012 season, Tommasino is looking to take his car to the next level and be a consistent top-5 threat every week.
“This will be my third season at Stafford, and I’m looking forward to it,” said Tommasino. “We’ve made a few changes on the car, but for the most part it will be the same stuff we ran last year. Towards the end of the year, our motor started to get a little tired, so we just sent our engine to Tony at T/A to get freshened up. We really like Stafford, the track is clean and professional, we like the half-mile size, and the competition is the best, there’s a lot of really good guys racing at Stafford.”
While Tommasino has had only a handful of starts in his relatively short Stafford career, he knows exactly where he needs to get stronger in order to have better results on the track and become a contender.
“I think our weak point last year was car setup,” said Tommasino. “We just couldn’t seem to get the car setup right. We had Dave Etheridge come over to the shop one night, and he played around with the car for about 20 minutes and after he did that we instantly started to run better. Once Dave worked on the car, it seemed like things were starting to come together for us.”
With Etheridge’s help on the chassis setup and a newly freshened engine, Tommasino is looking to make a the leap into a car that can be a contender for a top-5 finish every Friday night this season.
“Our goal is to go all out for this year and try to get the car into the top-5. We’re putting a little more into the car now than we did at this point last year and since the top-3 guys from last year’s points have moved on, I think there will be a lot of new faces in the winner’s circle this season. I have some great crew guys in Ernie, Ron, and Larry, and hopefully we can get the car good enough to be one of those new faces in the winner’s circle this year.”
The 2012 season kicks off at Stafford Motor Speedway with the 41st Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler on April 27-29. Tickets for the CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler are available and on sale now through the SMS Box Office. Tickets are priced at $38.50 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating will be priced at $42.00 for all ages. All ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with overnight parking available.
