PRACTICE: Blewett On Record Pace
Leads Six Under Whelen Modified Tour Mark At Stafford
STAFFORD, Conn. – Jimmy Blewett led the way as the top six drives in Saturday’s practice put up a lap under the Stafford Motor Speedway track record for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Blewett had a lap of 17.888 seconds (100.626 mph) around the half-mile. Ryan Preece and defending tour champion Ron Silk each had a lap of 17.896 (100.581). Preece won Stafford’s SK Modified Division championship last year in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Justin Bonsignore and Corey LaJoie – the latter driving a SPEC motor – were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bobby Santos set the track record in 2011 with a lap of 17.965 (100.195).
Qualifying is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., with the CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler taking the green flag Sunday.
Rowan Pennink was sixth fastest in practice, followed by Todd Szegedy, Eric Beers, Mike Stefanik and Ron Yuhas Jr.
