Speedbowl’s Saturday 6/2 program falls to weather
Waterford, CT — For the second consecutive week Waterford Speedbowl lost out to Mother Nature, cancelling Saturday’s scheduled NASCAR Whelen All-American Series “Four Cylinder Fury” event. Torrential rains that blanketed the region early on Saturday flooded the Speedbowl grounds. Attempts to recover the facility from the early rains had been underway for hours when more heavy rain returned over the track just after noon, forcing the cancellation.
No immediate make-up date has been announced for the “Four Cylinder Fury” event which included the Northeast Mini Stock Tour, Pro 4 Modifieds of New England plus the track’s weekly NASCAR racing program. Fans should stay tuned for more information in the coming days for news of a make-up.
The Speedbowl returns to action Wednesday evening when it hosts another round of Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday competition. The next NASCAR event is Saturday, June 9 when the International Supermodified Association returns to the speedway for their 50-lap season opening race after last Saturday’s event at the Speedbowl was postponed due to weather. June 9 also marks the return of a Speedbowl tradition, Scout Night. Several area scout packs and troops will participate in the night’s activities.
