Speedbowl’s June 13 Wild ‘n Wacky race program a wash
Waterford, CT — For the second consecutive week, Waterford Speedbowl was forced to cancel its scheduled Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday racing program due to wet weather. Persistent drizzle and light rain refused to give in during attempts to dry the racing surface. The event was rain-checked. Management will accept all tickets issued June 13 as credit towards any future 2012 Waterford Speedbowl event.
On Saturday, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing returns at the shoreline oval. Six divisions, including the SK Modifieds, Bob Valenti
Auto Mall Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and SK Light Modifieds will headline the track’s weekly racing series while the New England Truck Series will visit for the third time of the 2012 season. Qualifying begins at 5:30pm and main events start at 7:00pm Saturday.
On Saturday, June 23 the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the Speedbowl for its one and only appearance of the 2012 season. The Mr. Rooter 161 will take center stage in a tribute to the late Richie Evans, an iconic Modified racer. The date will mark the first visit to the Speedbowl by the regional NASCAR touring series since 2006.
