QUALIFYING: Waterford Pole to Christopher
24th Career Coors Light Pole For Past Whelen Mod Champ
WATERFORD, Conn. – Ted Christopher captured the 24th Coors Light Pole Award of his illustrious NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career Saturday in qualifying for the Mr. Rooter 161 at Waterford Speedbowl.
Christopher, from Plainville, Conn., piloted the No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet to a fast lap of 13.740 seconds (98.253 mph) around the .375-mile oval for his first pole in 2012, and second career pole at Waterford.
Christopher will be joined on the front row for tonight’s Mr. Rooter 161 by Todd Szegedy, who turned in the second-fastest lap in time trials at 13.747 (98.203). Points leader Doug Coby qualified third with Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk in the top five.

The rest of the top 10 qualifiers for the 161-lap race were Rowan Pennink, Ryan Preece, Donny Lia, Bryon Chew and Eric Goodale.
The Mr. Rooter 161, the first Whelen Modified Tour race at Waterford since 2006, is slated to go green at approximately 9 p.m.
