McKennedy, Pennink, Points Tie Adds to Monadnock Showdown
Canaan, NH. — Valenti Modified Racing Series point leaders, Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA., and Huntingdon Valley, PA., hotshoe, Rowan Pennink, share a first place tie in the series point standings going into this weekends 100-lap race at Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH. The ‘Firecracker 100’ is scheduled for Saturday night, July 7.
McKennedy and Pennink, both with 204 points, lead Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., by 24 points, Windsor Locks, CT., veteran, Les Hinckley, III, by 32 points, and Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH., by 38 points. The top five point men are slated to compete.
Defending series champion, Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., Hinckley, Mechalides, Wrenn, the popular Dwight Jarvis, of Acutney, VT., and two-time Monadnock winner, Rob Goodenough, of Swanzey, NH., are expected entries. Jim Boniface, a local favorite from Winchester, NH., is entering the holiday special.
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, CT., is planning to compete.
Saturdays race is the 32nd appearance by the VMRS at the New Hampshire oval. Of the current active competitors, Hinckley is a four-time winner there, Jarvis has three wins, Goodenough two, Boniface was the 2006, ‘Firecracker’ winner. McKennedy grabbed the victory in 2011.
The popular race card also features the regions most popular fireworks display presented by Atlas.
