Pennink Looks to Repeat at Thompson Thursday

Canaan, NH — Riding a four-point lead into Thompson Speedway, Thompson, CT., Thursday, Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, PA., hopes to repeat his performance in May, when he captured the Valenti Modified Racing Series, 75-lap feature, his fifth series victory.

Pennink leads two time series champion Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA., in the series standings.

Both drivers have not been to victory lane since spring. McKennedy opened the season with back-to-back wins in April. Pennink has not won since he scored at Thompson May 20. Both have made it interesting going into Thursday’s race. Pennink has two wins at Thompson, McKennedy has
yet to win there.

One driver who has been hot is Windsor Locks, CT., veteran Les Hinckley III. Hinckley has visited victory lane in two of his last three races. He won at Thompson in 2010.

Series defending champion Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., a six-time series winner, is entered. Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., a former Thompson winner, (2007) will compete.

Veteran drivers, Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH., and Mike Holdridge, of Madison, CT., are entered. They are currently fourth and fifth in the point standings.

Todd Owen, of Somers, CT., Doug Coby, of Milford, CT., Jeff Malave, of Manchester, CT., Ted Christopher, of Plainville, CT., Rob Goodenough, of Swanzey, NH., and Max Zachem, of Preston, CT., are expected.
