17-Year-Old Rookie Looking For Hat Trick At Stafford

.Canaan, NH. — 17-year-old driving sensation, Tommy Barrett Jr., of Millis MA., will be gunning for his third-consecutive feature win Friday night, September 14, when the Valenti Modified Racing Series visits the Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway.

The open-wheel modifieds from the popular New England based series will be competing in the 2nd annual Lincoln Tech 80, the second race in two weeks at the famed speedway.

Barrett won his first race at Stafford August 31, and won last Saturday at Waterford, CT. Both wins were drives from the back of the field and both left fans buzzing over the fast success of the high school senior.

Joining the competition in Friday’s race are, two-time series and defending champion, Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT. Pasteryak is coming off a strong runner-up finish at Waterford and sits third in the season point standings.

Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA., is now 12 points behind series leader, Jon McKennedy, of Chelmsford, MA., in their quest for the series title. Both will be battling for a top finish with only three races remaining after the Stafford
race card.

Stafford’s all-time winning modified driver Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT., will compete. Christopher’s first VMRS was at Stafford. He has a VMRS win this season.

Top point men Norm Wrenn, of Nashua NH., and Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., are expected entries.

Timmy Jordan, of Plainfield, CT., Max Zachem, of Preston, CT., and rookie Mark Bakaj, of Lebanon, CT., currently eighth in the standings, are all expected.

Qualifying races start at 6:15 PM with feature races VMRS drivers will sign autographs at 7:30 PM.
