PRACTICE: Loftin Sets Pace Late In Session
Former Champ Looks For Second Caraway Win This Season
ASHEBORO, N.C. – While tonight might be the night for George Brunnhoelzl to celebrate his third championship, another former champ might also be gearing up for a big night.
Loftin, the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion, went out near the end of final practice and set quick time with a lap of 15.923 seconds (102.870 mph) Saturday afternoon during practice for the Mid-Atlantic Shoot Out 150 at Caraway Speedway.
Andy Seuss followed at 15.969 (102.574) during the afternoon and Tim Brown was third at 15.983 (102.484). Brunnhoelzl and rookie Danny Bohn completed the top five.
The caution flag waved two times over both sessions. The first was for Jeremy Gerstner losing an engine which forced him to withdraw from the event while the second wsa for a fluid leak beneath Kyle Ebersole's car which was quickly rectified.
Qualifying for the Coors Light Pole will begin at 4 p.m.
