PRACTICE: Pitkat On A Roll
Led Practice In Preparation For Thompson World Series
THOMPSON, Conn. – Woody Pitkat paced practice Saturday morning at Thompson International Speedway in preparation for Sunday’s Sunoco-Town Fair Tire World Series NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale.
Pitkat, from Stafford, Conn., posted a fast lap of 18.602 seconds (120.955 mph) during the one hour practice session at the .625-mile speedway. Pitkat led a career-high 128 laps last time out at Stafford Motor Speedway and tied his career-best finish with a runner-up effort.
Pitkat will be gunning for his first career Coors Light Pole Award later today in Whelen Modified Tour qualifying at 2:15 p.m.
Like Pitkat, Stafford race winner Bobby Santos also kept the momentum going at Thompson. He posted a fast lap of 18.621 (120.831) to finish second on the speed chart. Eric Berndt was third at 18.698 (120.334).
Ryan Preece, Bryon Chew, Keith Rocco, Rowan Pennink, Tom Rogers Jr., Justin Bonsigore and Ron Silk brought home the top 10 in the practice session.
The Sunoco-Town Fair Tire World Series will feature a three-way battle for the 2012 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour title. Doug Coby, who finished 12th on the speed chart in practice, leads Preece by 17 points and defending champ Silk by 18.
The finale is set to go green at approximately 3:15 p.m., on Sunday.
