CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler & CARQUEST Fall Final Event Tickets Available Now at Stafford Speedway Box Office

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway’s Box Office has tickets available now for the two marquee events on its 2013 schedule, the 42nd Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, and the 41st Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend. Fans can purchase reserved seat tickets in either the top row or the Gold Stadium Chairback section, general admission tickets, or child general admission tickets for both the Sizzler and Fall Final.

The 42nd Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler will kick off the 2013 season at Stafford Motor Speedway in grand style. Stafford’s five weekly divisions will all be in action along with the 200-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event and the debut of the North East Mini Stock Tour. The 42nd Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler is scheduled for Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28.

Last year’s CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler was the launching point for Doug Coby and Ted Christopher to make 2012 a championship season. Coby was victorious in the 200-lap Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, the first of three Stafford wins and five for the season on his way to his very first Whelen Modified Tour Championship. Christopher was victorious in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, the first of four SK Modified® feature victories in what would turn out to be his record 8th SK Modified® track championship at Stafford. Other winners from last year’s Sizzler include Keith Rocco in the Late Models, Dylan Kopec in the SK Lights, Josh Wood in the Limited Late Models, and Kyle Casagrande in the DARE Stocks.

Stafford’s 41st Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend will bring the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season to an end and see the crowning of five new track champions as well as the penultimate round of the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. The 41st Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 28 & 29.

At last year’s CARQUEST Fall Final, Doug Coby was attempting to become the first driver in Stafford history to win all four Whelen Modified Tour events at Stafford in the same season. But his winning streak was halted by Bobby Santos, III, who passed Woody Pitkat for the lead on lap-145 after Pitkat had led from lap-17 to lap-144 and looked like he was on his way to his very first Whelen Modified Tour victory in the #79 Hillbilly Racing entry.
The CARQUEST Fall Final also saw some thrilling finishes to the track championship races.

In the SK Modified® division, Ted Christopher had a late race spin that relegated him to a 12th place finish while Woody Pitkat was involved in an accident on the very first lap of the Late Model feature that left him with a 20th place finish. But both Christopher and Pitkat were still able to lock up the championships. Perhaps the wildest finish of all the weekly championship races came in the SK Light Modified feature. Zach Aszklar was involved in a mid race accident that left his car in a bent up mess after Dylan Kopec’s car climbed up and over the top of Aszklar’s car. This put Tony Membrino, Jr. into position to take the championship, but he got into the wall coming out of turn 4 several laps later, which moved the championship back to Aszklar. The sight of Aszklar’s mangled race car in CARQUEST Victory Lane is an image that will live on in Stafford lore. The Limited Late Model feature saw Cory Casagrande cap off a dominant stretch in which he won 5 of the final 7 races with a victory to take the championship, while Austin Bessette won the DARE Stock feature, but came up just short of Cliff Saunders in the championship race.
