Golden Auto Body to Mark 12th Year of Super Pro Truck Sponsorship at Riverhead Raceway in 2013
RIVERHEAD, NY — Riverhead Raceway officials announced today that Golden Auto Body of College Point, Queens has agreed to return as a marketing partner with the track’s Super Pro Truck division for the 12th consecutive season. Golden Auto Body will again back the “Tailgate Brigade” as a seasonal sponsor adding weekly purse money to the class as well as hosting Golden Auto Body night on Saturday September 28th at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s famed quarter mile oval.
Charlie Rizzo, owner of Golden Auto Body continues a long standing tradition of sponsoring the Super Pro Trucks, a tradition started by the late and popular Larry “King” Costa. Rizzo took over the reigns of Golden Auto Body just after Costa’s untimely death and continues to offer all aspects of quality auto body work, from minor dings and dents to major collision repair that include frame straightening. Golden Auto Body located in the College Point section of the borough of Queens is just a short walk away from Citi Field, home to the New York Mets.
Roger Turbush of Riverhead scored the 2012 Super Pro Truck championship; his second in three years and he’ll be the driver to beat when the class is part of a seven division opening night program Saturday May 4th. Among the drivers out to dethrone Roger will be his own brother Chris, Lou Maestri, the Dumicich family, father Frank Sr., son Frank Jr. and daughter Erin, former multi-time champion Lou Maestri and the “King of Queens” Mike Albasini. Ironically Mike owns and operates his own auto body shop just miles from Golden Auto Body, Hollis Court Collision and won the Golden Auto Body night feature back in 2010.
The 2013 opening weekend at Riverhead Raceway is now less than five months away. Joining the Super Pro Trucks for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series opener Saturday May 4th are the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars. The second half of the weekend opener will come Sunday afternoon May 5th with a full slate of Enduro racing on tap featuring the Grand Enduro class as well the 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro.
Two pre-season practice sessions will proceed the 2013 opening weekend at Riverhead Raceway Saturday afternoon April 20th and again April 27th and as always feature free grandstand admission.
