Contingency Sponsor Call Before You Dig Adds 811 Points Challenge

Stafford Springs, CT — When the green flag drops on the 2013 season at Stafford Motor Speedway, it will mark the start of the Call Before You Dig (CBYD) bonus challenge for drivers and teams entitled CBYD 811 Challenge. The Challenge will net five drivers $811 each in additional bonus money for a total posted award by CBYD of $4055.

“We are excited about the 811 Challenge with CBYD, as drivers from all 5 divisions compete against each other in a separate points battle,” said Lisa Arute, Stafford Motor Speedway Executive V.P. “The program will run almost ¾ of the season therefore giving great exposure to CBYD on getting the word out on the importance of calling 811 to know what’s below when excavating.”

The CBYD 811 Challenge will award drivers from each division 100 points for a feature victory and then decrease the points by position in 5-point increments. The 811 Challenge will commence at the CARQUEST Tech Net Spring Sizzler on April 27 & 28 and culminate on Friday, August 9th, which will be designated Call Before You Dig Event Night. The five drivers whose point totals come the closest to 811 points without going over after the completion of the August 9th CBYD Event Night will each receive an $811 bonus from CBYD.

“We’ve been involved with Stafford Motor Speedway since 2007, and the race fans are really our target audience of contractors and home owners who will either be digging trenches or utilizing CBYD for excavation projects,” said Derek Brown, Chairman of Damage Prevention and Education Committee for CBYD. “We’re always looking for fresh ideas to promote the 811 number to call CBYD, and we got in touch with Mark and Lisa Arute to come up with an 811 event as close to August 11th (8/11) as possible. They came up with the idea for the CBYD 811 Challenge, and we thought that was a great way for us to be able to promote the 8-1-1 phone number while creating a unique and fun way for CBYD to be able to give something back to the drivers who put on a great show every Friday night at Stafford.”

In addition to the CBYD 811 Challenge, CBYD will continue its presence as the 1st Place Contingency Sponsor in the SK Modified® division, posting $150 bonus to the SK Modified® feature winner each event night. The 2013 season will mark the third consecutive season that CBYD has been a first place SK Modified® contingency sponsor. CBYD has contributed over $5,400 to SK Modified® feature winners to date.

Call Before You Dig is a non-profit organization funded by public utility companies with facilities located in Connecticut. CBYD is a free service that provides homeowners and professional excavators an easy way to learn just what underground utilities lie within their proposed work area. 8-1-1 was created to help people know what’s below and from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on excavation projects. 8-1-1 is a free call to make, and calling CBYD before using mechanized excavating equipment is the law in Connecticut. After 2 full working days of your call, a representative from each member utility company that may be affected by an excavation project will come to the site and mark the utility location of their underground facilities with color coded paint or flags, or call if there are no conflicts. Call Before You Dig can be found online at www.cbyd.com for more detailed information and guidance.
